Arlington Law Group continues to serve clients during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. In order to protect our staff and our clients, we are cancelling all in-person meetings except for estate plan signings, and providing virtual meetings by teleconference, video conference and screen sharing meetings to allow our clients to discuss their legal needs without coming to the office.

Estate Planning

We understand that many of our clients are concerned about making or updating their estate plans in these uncertain times. We can do most of the estate planning process using teleconference, video conference and screen sharing, and we encourage clients to contact us to set up a virtual consultation.

Signing of estate planning documents requires two witnesses and a notary public to be present with the person signing the documents. We have several contingency plans to minimize the time clients will need to spend at our office, and we have ordered masks and gloves for our staff so that we can reduce the likelihood of any virus transmission. Additionally, we will be taking extra measures to sanitize the hard surfaces in our office on a daily basis.

Incapacity Planning

If a family member or friend is in critical condition, we can advise on how to use their medical and financial power of attorney documents to care for them and deal with their affairs, or we can assist with guardianship and conservatorship proceedings through the courts. We can often assist with helping organize the affairs of an incapacitated person while they are still alive to simplify the process of administering their estate or trust after their death.

Probate and Trust Administration

If you have lost a family member or friend and need advice on administering their estate or trust, we can advise you on the court probate process, dealing with financial and legal affairs, tax returns and tax elections, and trust administration.

Business Law

Many of our business owner clients are trying to decide how to respond to the Coronavirus. We can advise on policies and procedures to mitigate risk, help with negotiating loan or lease concessions, and advise on how to manage employee relationships to help your business weather this disruption.

Over the past month, we have been assisting clients to obtain emergency loans and grants, including loans through the CARES Act Paycheck Protection Program. If your business needs assistance navigating these resources, updating the governing documents for your organization to obtain a loan or grant, or dealing with the tax considerations of coronavirus related legislation, please contact us.

We will continue to reevaluate our procedures as the situation develops, but please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any concerns about your business or personal legal needs during this time.
